The Jomsom Trek is in fact half of the Annapurna Circuit. The other half is the Manang Trek. The Jomsom Trek climbs up on the west side of the Annapurna massif, through the steep valley of the Kali Gandaki, up to Jomsom and Muktinath. From there you will not continue across Thong La pass (5416 m), but turn back. Most hikers will take a flight from Jomsom. The trek includes the climb to Poon Hill, with its spectacular views of the Himalaya. Once you reach the bottom of the Kali Gandaki valley, you will hit on the new road. It isn't asphalted, but does run all the way to Muktinath.
