Report

Scotts Peak to Melaleuca track does not follow the coast, it is only sighted once you get to Bathurst Inlet. Warning rowing experience in order to cross the inlet by small dighy. Weather is coastal effected from the Southern ocean, so it is wet most of the time. Hikers can expect to have wet feet the whole way with occational plunge into deep mud bogs, waist deep. Experienced tough hikers only.

Most walkers fly into Melaluca and walk out west to east with the wind and rain at your back. Considerable work on west of Ironbound range makes climbing a pleasure, greasy and eroded conitions on the east side an arduous desent.

Views of bays and headlands are spectacular and isolated from land traffic makes the experience all the more special.
