Straubing – Furth im Wald, 156 km
Originally, the Baierweg was a trade route connecting the Danube to Bohemia. Our current path passes through the Bayerischer Wald (Bavarian Forest, Germany) and the Böhmerwald (Bohemian Forest, Czech Republic). It is a varied trail, and we will visit many small villages and historic market places, walk through valleys and climb over mountain tops.
The trail begins and ends in Germany, but makes a wide loop through the Czech Republic. It's not a difficult walk, but the hieght differences in the Bavarian and Bohemian Forest are substantial. The trail is well marked and documented.
