Positive Its a pleasant and gentle walk through farmland, some woodland and along the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal with some pretty towns on route such as Usk, Abergavenny and Brecon, great for lunch or coffee. Its improved by starting from Newport at the Wales Coast path on the recently waymarked Usk Valley Link as this adds some history such as the Transporter bridge and the Roman remains at Caerleon.
Negative Some of the deviations up the hillside beside the valley were poorly waymarked and overgrown. They added some sweeping views across the valley, but one suspects the landowners were not all in favour of the path.
