The Janapar Trail or Himnakan Janapar as it is referred to locally, is a long distance hiking trail that will lead you right across Nagorno-Karabakh. The trail measures 225 km and takes 14 days to complete. The Janapar Trail is a relatively new trail, ready since 2008, and marked with the symbol of what looks like a yellow footprint against a blue background. In fact the 'foot' is the outline of Nagorno-Karabakh itself.
The trail leads across mountains, valleys and remote villages, past old monasteries and fortresses. Along the route you can stay overnight in so-called Homestays, in a room with a local family.
