Frankenweg, Untereichenstein - Harburg, 520 km, 26 days

Do not confuse this Frankenweg with the Frankenweg in the Schwäbische Alb (HW8), nor the one in the Odenwald, nor the Via Francigena which is often also called Frankenweg or Frankenstrasse.

This long path is located in the north of the state of Bayern. The path has earned the predicate “Quality trail” and this ensures that the itinerary picks the best trails and tracks and rarely uses tarmac roads. The Frankenweg meanders through gently undulating hills, two-thirds fields, one-third deciduous forests. It avoids towns and villages where possible, but these are never far away. The region is picturesque and a popular tourist destination.
