Romsdal lies on Norway's west coast. Eikesdal lies east of it. Both areas continue into the well known Dovrefjell and still further away Rondane.

Like Sunnmøre, the region of Romsdal is comprised of steep and serrated mountain peaks. These rock palaces rise out of the fjord landscape. Romsdal is popular with climbers, but most summits can be reached by safe routes as well. The summits in Eikesdal are even higher.

A string of huts and trails run through this region. The height differences are substantial. From the huts, one can choose from a wide number of mountains to climb.
