Illinois

Description

The northern tip of Illinois touches on Lake Michigan. The centre is mainly flat prairy. The southern part is a little bit more rugged, and home to the Shawnee National Forest with its lakes, streams, small waterfalls. Good hiking in this park.

The American Discovery Trail passes through Illinois. The 173 mile Hennepin Canal Parkway follows the old tow path along the Hennepin Canal in Illinois.
